Personal

My career in critical care started almost 25 years ago as a certified emergency medical technician (EMT) and advanced diver medic. My passion for critical care has guided me to meet my prerequisites  for graduate nursing college. I earned my first Masters degree in nursing (RN, MSN) with emphasis in Critical Care from San Francisco State University, Graduate College of Nursing in 2003. After graduation from SFSU School of Nursing, I spent years in specialized practice in every aspect of Critical Care for adults and pediatrics. I had the honor and the privilege to work in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) of California Pacific Medical Center and Stanford University Medical Center. I had extensive and diverse adult and pediatric critical care experiences from burn, cardiac, medical, neurological, pulmonary, surgical, transplant, and trauma. That lead me to earn the national certification in Critical Care (CCRN) by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Upon recommendation and recognition of my peers, I served as the AACN Ambassador for Critical Care. Furthermore, I earned my license as clinical care nurse specialist in critical care.

My passion for critical care was forever growing and it encompassed anesthesia. I earned my second Masters Degree in Nurse Anesthesia (MS) from Wolford College in Florida in January, 2008. The National Board Certification in Anesthesia followed that (NBCRNA). Since then, I have practiced anesthesia across the nation at many prestigious universities, level one trauma centers, and heart institutes. As an active practice nurse anesthetist (CRNA), ARNP, CNS, CCRN, I specialize in high risk cardiac, open heart, valves, aorta, transplant, trauma anesthesia and critical care across the life span of patients. I am actively licensed in Florida and 14 other states as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practioner ARNP and a CRNA.

Throughout my critical care and anesthesia careers, I was always asked to help in ICU crises and codes. This included critical care intervention for emergency intubation, central lines, arterial lines, SWAN Insertion, ventilator management for patients in the ICU/ CVICU as requested by many cardiac surgeons and ICU directors. To the level that many cardiothoracic surgeons and ICU directors asked me directly and repeatedly, what would it take for you to be able to help us continually? It is those extensive critical care and anesthesia experiences and the encouragement of my peers that have motivated me to always care, do my absolute best, and go above and beyond for my patients and my professional career.
